Background & History

The Hawley family were one of the earliest  Yorkshire potters,owning several potteries from the mid 18The century to the early 20th Century.The Nz  decendants of the family have been in the tableware business since 1947 under Andrew Hawley Ltd ,started by the late Andrew Hawley in 1947 after returning from Nz Army  War service in Italy and Egypt.

Tim Hawley,grandson of the last potters in Uk is still involved in the industry under Wentworth Trading Co Ltd, and is also now a potter.Over the years the old firm were NZ Distributors for many famous brands including Waterford Wedgwood,Queens,Royal Copenhagen,Holmegaard Glass, Duam Crystal,,Geo Jensen Silver,Aynsley china,Enoch Wedgwood, RCR  Crystal,Rockingham china,Stolzle Glass, Bretby pottery,Portmeirion, Royal Chelsea, Kai Shun Knives,Prices Candles,Casa Bugatti,,Edinburgh Crystal,Galway Crystral , Belleek, Furstenberg porzellan, Konitz, Royal Stafford, Crystal de Sevres,Spears Games  (Scrabble),Jab Melamine,Wr Humphries Sheffield Cutlery, W Tyzack sons & Turner Sheffield etc
